Greyline Tours in Denver…. worth it?
http://www.grayline.com/Grayline/destinations/us/denver.go
I’ll be in Denver from Wednesday until Saturday (short trip). I’ve lived in Florida my whole life, so my wife and I are looking to see some of the spectacular sites in the Denver area.
I’m not usually the type to go on a tour, but I figure one of the 9-10 hour tours might be a good way to cram in a bunch of stuff.
The Greyline Tours I’ve been interested in are as such:
DENVER MOUNTAIN PARKS
- Red Rocks Park
- Bear Creek Canyon
- Buffalo Bill Cody Gravesite and Museum
- Lookout Mountain
Duration: 4 hours
$40.00
WHISTLES, BELLS AND MOUNTAIN PEAKS
- Travel up Mount Evans
- Lunch at Echo Lake Lodge
- Ride on Georgetown Loop Railroad
Duration: 9 hours
$95.00
I have no idea what any of these places are.. but they sound cool! lol.
I am renting a car while I’m there, so theoretically I could drive myself to some of these places. However, I wouldnt have a tour guide providing historical information. Any insight on this?
Thanks!

I’ve never heard of Greyline. Like you mentioned, all those places you listed you can EASILY get to yourself. I’m not a “tour person” either and I’ve been to Buffalo Bill’s grave/museum and Lookout Mountain by myself and was bored. I could only imagine it being worse with a boring tour guide. I suppose it really comes down to how fun/interesting the tour guide is and what the others in the group are like. If it’s all old people and a bland guide, it would be miserable. If the group is fun and the guide is interesting, it might be worthwhile.

I think the Whistles, Bells and Mountain Peaks one sounds fantastic. I went to Grayline’s webpage and checked out all Denver tour offerings. If you are looking to see mostly the sights in the mountains I would suggest maybe the Rocky Mountain National Park tour. However I think the railraod ride part of the Whistles tour would be awesome. Another railroad I’ve heard has amazing views is the Royal Gorge.
